What is Faith Formation?
Before we go ahead and do something in life, it sometimes helps with knowing something about what we are doing. The same holds true with our faith. In order to live out our lives based upon Christian tenets, it is probably a good idea to learn about Christianity. The same holds true about Faith Formation. It may be a good idea to know what it is before trying to incorporate it into your own life or even at a church where you may be a member. We have heard the phrase before, but what is Faith Formation?
1.An excerpt from Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us: A Pastoral Plan for Adult Faith Formation in the United States says, “The Church’s catechetical mission aims to help the faithful of all ages to grow in both human and Christian maturity, enriching the whole of life with the leaven of the Gospel. … recognizes that learning is a process of active inquiry with initiative residing in the adult learner and that adults are motivated to learn as they experience needs and interests that adult learning activities will satisfy.
… views learning as a lifelong process that involves both formal and informal learning, intentional or unexpected.
… utilizes a variety of learning models to address the diverse life tasks and situations, religious and spiritual needs, and interests of adults; and incorporates both face-to-face, interactive learning activities and virtual, online learning activities.”
