Watching a Movie in the Family Room of Our Home

I have enjoyed all the retreats I have experienced since the first of June. One of the retreats I enjoy very much, especially when things are chaotic and somewhat crazy at home, is when things tend to settle down at the end of a “crazy” day, and I take refuge to the family room in our home. There may be other family members around, but it is usually when everyone else goes elsewhere in the house to “do their own thing.”

This is what I do. I get a snack ready, my favorite being peanut butter and strawberry jam on 100 percent whole wheat bread, turn on the television, and then choose among Pureflix.com, Netflix.com, or Amazon Prime Video to look for which faith-based movie I will watch that evening. I enjoy watching all kinds of movies. Our family has had the Pureflix.com subscription for a couple of years. This ministry is excellent when it comes to my choosing a Christian-based or family-friendly movie at their website to watch. Pureflix.com has several thousand movies to pick from. Netflix.com and Amazon Prime Video have some of these same types of movies, but not nearly as many of these same types. Pure Flix’s mission is best-stated on their website:

     Some of my favorite movies I can watch on Pureflix.com include the ones listed below. I recommend that anyone take the time to go online to the movie’s website to watch the trailer to these and any other movies that are available. The title of each movie sometimes tells one much about what the movie is about. The monthly subscription is a very reasonable price for all of the movies one would have access to.

     There is nothing like watching a faith-based movie to help me with what may have taken place in my life on a given day. Watching these movies provides me with insight into how to live out my faith. They also inspire me when seeing how other people may have used their faith in everyday life situations. Watching a Christian movie this evening at the end of a challenging day was a great way for me to go on a retreat!
