If you want to dive deep down into Scripture and learn much about the story of God’s plan for the world, mainly giving us Jesus Christ in the flesh to teach us how to live our lives, to suffer, die on the cross, and rise from the dead so that each one of us can live with Him in heaven for all of eternity, you need to listen to “The Bible in a Year” podcast by Ascension Press. It is the fifth year that this podcast has been around. I followed it the first year that it started. I am doing it this year for the second time. I am several weeks behind in terms of listening to the podcast episodes one time each day, but I should be caught up sometime in June.
I truly believe that the Bible (the version I use and read is The New American Bible) is the greatest love story ever told. I enjoy reading any part of Scripture. Some parts are challenging to read, and some parts are very straight forward. If I read and listened to “The Bible in a Year” podcast every year from now until the day that I die, I still would not be able to fully comprehend everything that is written in Scripture.
In the next month or so, I am going to head to Washington DC to visit the Museum of the Bible. I visited this place four years ago. This is too long in between visits. Maybe I need to make this trip a yearly visit. Several of my church friends and I had a great time on this visit. I did not realize there were so many versions of the Bible written over the years. During this first trip there for me, we spent half the day. My goal on this second visit is to be there for the entire day so that I can learn as much as I can about the Bible.
(Note: The paragraphs above are taken from one of two daily journals that I have been writing in for the past twenty-five years. This is why these paragraphs may not seem like they flow very well together.)
When you have the opportunity, click on each item below to find out more about each of these. Enjoy reading Scripture and growing closer to Jesus Christ!
