One of the most important things for me as a believer in Jesus Christ is to attend a Catholic Mass each weekend on Saturday or Sunday. One thing that takes place during the Mass is that a priest or deacon reads a passage from one of the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John). If you are interested in what takes place during a Mass, check it out here: USCCB. The one part of the Gospel that was read in church last weekend was the following:
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
What I learned from this Gospel reading is that things are tough in life. Everyone goes through trials and tribulations. Some may have a more challenging life than others. No matter what the circumstances, no matter what has gone wrong, not matter how badly things seem, no matter how challenging things seem, not matter how tough circumstances may get, no matter how down and out you may feel, no matter how desperate things may seem, no matter how hard life may be at times, one can always turn to Jesus Christ for comfort, compassion, forgiveness, love, understanding, and so much more. All you have to do is let Him into your life and surrender to Him. He will always be there for you no matter what you did, no matter what you are thinking, and no matter how you feel any moment in time during your life. He is always there for you no matter how things are going in your life. Stop what you are doing right now, pause for a few brief moments, take a few deep breathes, and listen to what Jesus is saying in Matthew’s Gospel: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” He is there for you always and any time that you need Him. Amen!
