During the last several years, I have experienced the loss of several family members and friends. Losing a loved one at any age is tough. Coping and dealing with this loss may be difficult for people in many different ways. For me, losing my mom on June 23, 2023, and then losing my dad on May 14, 2025, were two of the most challenging days of my life. I miss them very much every day. I miss being able to visit them, being in each other’s presence, helping them with things, talking on the phone, running errands with them, attending family events, etc. I am the person I am today because of how they lived and what they taught me throughout the years. My parents were thoughtful, caring, nurturing, kind, truthful, compassionate, generous, loving, and devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
During this time of loss, the one thing that has helped me is listening to contemporary Christian music. In particular, there are several songs that I listen to on a regular basis for this reason. The songs below have helped me over, and over, and over again with doing the best that I can with no longer having my parents around. When you have the opportunity, listen to each one of these songs. One, some or all of these songs may help you with the loss of someone you loved dearly when he or she was still around. I hope these songs help you as much as they have helped me!
